40 - 150 mm 1:4.0 - 1:5.6 ... I love it...

Yesterday my children, Julian and Cornelia, two of their friends and me have been visiting the corn labyrith in Vinxel, near Bonn. I shot some 61 pics. Ten of them were worth to be worked out a little bit with the OLYMPUS Viewer 2 software. As usual I shot with the Olympus E-PL 1 and one of my only two lenses: the 40 - 150 mm M- Zuiko, that can take increadibly sharp pics, if the autofocus exactly does what I want...

Leica-look-alike!

Julian, now in school since 5 weeks...new friends and old Kindergarten friends, who he wanted to see that weekend...

These straw bales are for my friend Wolfgang Lonien from Frankfurt. I know his taste! He enjoyed also a quite simple pic of a shoe, I took earlier this year...Never ever saw something so golden like these bales in my 47-year old life! But the Camera monitor can´t do the exactly colours! For your and his pleasure I developed this pic as a normal sRGB (the only one in that row of ten pics). But my iMac can´t do the colours also in a perfect matter... just a glimpse of never seen before shining pure gold corn! I want to say: Kruegerrand is nothing in comparison! Not kidding!

Different shades of brown... this pic shows, how far the 40 - 150 mm can go in terms of sharpnes...in the certain moments when the camera loves you...I am shure, you can´t go so far with canon set lenses...

Cornelia Marie in the shadow. Some white balance correction by the software (I put the white balance to 7500 Kelvin).

During (or a short time after) sunset. The original file was even more red. Beautiful Olympus colours, slightly corrected... I´ m still in love with the E-PL 1!

All of them: Four rascal!

A nice Portrait of Cornelia just 16 minutes later (and against the bright, glowing sky)

This was much to dark (more than 2 steps), but I want to show it nonetheless

The last of the better shots today. It was 7:06 pm in germany and time to go home for supper...

Thank you for viewing!

The 5 seasons

Es gibt hierzu sogar ein nettes youtube "making of" It really rocks!

Also 12 schwarze Kinder, die irgendwie zusammengehörten.

keep it real - a vernissage in cologne 2012-09-06

september 1, 2012 - oktober 31, 2012    beleuchtungshaus schiffgen, neumarkt 49, 50667 köln

Peter Miranski a well known Photographer and Photodesigner from Cologne, a close friend of mine since about 25 years,  shows 17 of his new works. He shot some very young models and told them to be "just theirselfs". One girl, one light(!) one Camera (it was a Canon EOS 5 D Mk II). Everything simple and kind of basic.

He shot about 1.000 pictures of each girl and spend most of the time to select the right shoots. He told me that this was the malediction of the digital work and some 100 meters from his exhibition there was an exhibition with large format analog pics. The famous photographer of that exhibition could afford of course just one or two shots with every girl. So he needs the "perfect moment" for the shot, to not loose too much money...

I am proud, that I can say, that I taught Peter "Photographie", want to say, I told him how to take pictures with the Canon T 70 of his daddy (as an example, what effect a larger apperture will have in the photo etc.!) in 1987 or 1988, because I have had my Canon AE-1 some years before him (and before we met each other for the first time of our live at the high-end hifi-exhibition in Frankfurt 1987 or 1988. We met each other some days after our first meeting in Frankfurt at our HiFi Guru Torsten Roscher in Wuppertal - Peter was not the only one who loves this real Guru - I met people in Frankfurt, who drives 1000 kilometer just to listen to the turntables, tube gear and speakers of that increadible magic jesus-look-alike man).

Now Peter is in terms of photographie of course lightyears away from me, but I still love both: music and photographie as a hobby. And Peter loves his nice black records (Miles Davis etc.) also...

Peter, I am proud of you! Excellent work!

keep it real - an exhibition in cologne (Peter Miranski -the left guy- and me. The girl who took the pic did not listen to me, I told her that she had to focus first to some edges (Peters glases or my shirt-stripes) - silly cow! ;-))

Fourteen licks -or: Organ demonstration at the Bonner Münster

Yesterday Julian and me were visiting the 1961 Klais Organ at the Münster in Bonn. It was Markus Karas, a well known german  choirmaster, conductor, composer and organ player (he is the cantor of the Bonner Münster since 1992) who made the guidance.
Julian is a member of Rheinischer Kinder-and Jugendchor Bonn and he loves to meet "his" Markus Karas every thursday. I don´t know how many times he asked me: "If the piano is the king of instruments, how can it be that the organ is so much bigger???" And I don´t know how many times I answered: "Well the organ is the emperor, which is more than king!" Normaly he responds: "And which instrument is pope?" I used to answer: "The trautonium!"

I took some 40 Pictures with the Olympus E-PL 1 and enjoyed the pics so much! I used no flash, no tripod... but: the little Camera and the set-lens 14 -42 mm did a great job! Some post production with the free software Olympus Viewer 2 has making the files shine (as Ming Thein would say). Who says, that he micro four thirds cameras have problems with 1600 ASA? Don´t talk BS I say!
The price of that little wonder is now USD 149,-- at amazon.com (body only). Nothing more or less than a sensation.

As the Open Goldberg Variations all pictures that I show today are governed by the Creative Commons Zero license, which means that they are a part of the public domain. So perhaps the Bonner Münster, Markus Karas, or the Organ Builders could use them (or even the original very large files) as an example for doing some public relations in their own affaires if they want.

So, here we go: Fourteen licks (not the legendary Rolling Stones fourty)!

Don´t like Finland

Thanks Stefan, for doing the stitching stuff. The results have been in some way pretty much as I intended they were:
I had not liked these holidays. Pictures were taken with a Fujifilm F 50 fd. I don´t really like the camera also. The Canon Ixus Compact cameras seem to be  a little more suitable to me.

Nein! DAS DARF NICHT SEIN! Nicht anklikken, n-i-c-h-t anklicken! NICHT anklicken! Den folgenden Link bitte unbedingt boykottieren! Ärzte sind Schweine!
